Karen Howard ArchitectKaren Howard provides architectural services for new structures, renovations and additions. She has completed residential projects in New York City, Boston and Martha's Vineyard. She has also done extensive commercial work. As a project architect at Fox and Fowle Architects in New York City, she designed interiors for Mobil Oil, New York Clearing House and HRO International. As a consultant to William McDonough and Partners, Architect she was a member of the design team responsible for the Heinz Family Offices and Foundation in Pittsburgh. She was project architect supervising the design of commercial interiors for Furman Selz, Edward S. Gordon Company and J. Walter Thompson in association with International Design Team and Associates. |

Personal ProfilesKaren A. Howard, AIAKaren Howard is a principal of Howard Garden Designs and Karen Howard Architect. Karen began her career in architecture and has a Masters degree in architecture from Columbia University and Bachelor of Arts from St. Lawrence University. She is a Registered Architect in Massachusetts and New York. With her architectural background, Karen combines house and garden, making the landscape an extension of interior building spaces. She has lectured on landscape design for the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, the New England Spring Flower Show and other institutions. She is on the board of the Massachusetts Nursery and Landscape Association and the advisory board of the Community Outreach Group for Landscape Design (COG). |

R. Christopher O'BrienChris O'Brien is a principal of Howard Garden Designs. His professional experience is in architecture, urban planning and economic development. Chris has a Masters degree in architecture from Columbia University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago. In our companies Chris specializes in green roofs and environmentally conscious construction and planting. He is currently treasurer of the Ecological Landscaping Association. |
